Jan 24, 2009 Where can I find a replacement on/off switch for a whirlpool tub? The brand is aqua glass, and it's a 3/4 HP pump. The brand's website does not really seem to list replacement parts. Update: Yes, it is mounted on the top of the tub ledge and is white, about 1' wide and it turns to turn on the jets. Any spa repair person would have one?

Installation Recommendations for Whirlpools & Spas or Tubs

The simplest and least expensive installationis into a two-wall or three-wall cove with factory-suppliedskirts to conceal the mechanicals. However, many customersprefer the look of a drop-in model with a custom tile surround(see Figure 6-53).
With either type of installation, it is criticalthat the weight of the tub be supported by the base, not thelip. With larger tubs, often holding 50 to 80 gallons of water(at 8 pounds per gallon), the framing and subfloor may needto be reinforced to support the total weight of the tub, water, and bathers. A larger water heater may also be needed.
The most common method to support the tub bottomand dampen vibration is to set the tub onto several smallmounds of wet plaster or mortar mix that compress andconform to the shape of the tub bottom as it is installed. Anon shrinking grout such as Sonogrout 10K (Sonneborn) isbest since it will not leave gaps as it dries.
Partially fillingthe tub with water until the mortar sets will ensure a goodfit. Many contractors recommend using mortar even withunits including “self-leveling” bases, which are designedto sit on a level subfloor with no additional support.
A few tubs are designed with individual bearing pointsmolded into the bottom of the tub. With this type, it is importantto make sure that the bearing points fall on joistsor solid blocking. Solid bridging should also be added tohelp distribute the load to the surrounding joists.
Access Panel Designs for Whirlpool Baths, Jetted Tubs, Spas
With a custom-built surround, it is necessary to leave an access panel. Although access to the mechanicals is rarely needed, it should not require tearing apart the tile surround.
A simple approach is to tile the accesspanel, hang it with magnets, and caulk the joint between theaccess panel and surrounding tiles. If access is necessary, the caulk can be slit with a knife and the panel removed.
Where the tub rim meets tile at a wall or the top of thesurround, use a flexible caulk rather than grout, which willcrack as the tub flexes, and expands and contracts withtemperature changes.
Question: jetted tub elevation for basement installation

Is it necessary to raise a jet tub installed in the basement by 12 inches to allow for drainage?
Reply:
Anon,
You have two general approaches to drainage options when installing a jetted tub or any other plumbing system in a building basement:
IF the outlet of the plumbing fixture trap is sufficiently high above the point at which the fixture drain connects to a building drain then the fixture can drain by gravity. Sometimes we gain a little height at the fixture to make a drain line work by building a platform onto which the toilet, tub, or shower is installed, allowing it to drain by gravity. You need between 1/8' and 1/4' of slope per foot over the entire run of the plumbing drain.
IF the fixture outlet trap is too low to drain by gravity and building a platform is not practical, for example when the building drain exits high on the basement wall, you'll need to install an ejector pump and check valve so that drainage from the fixture can be lifted to the height of the building drain. If a toilet also empties into the ejector pump then a grinder pump is needed. Tcd2012 l06 2v parts manual.

- For general purpose cleaning, any non-abrasive liquid cleaner off the shelf may be used. Be sure to read the label and follow the cleanser’s recommendations. Do not use harsh abrasives as they will harm and dull the finish of your unit. Instead, use warm water and liquid detergents, especially those bathroom cleaners recommended for cleaning fiberglass, such as Top Job All-Purpose, Mr. Clean All-Purpose, Boraxo Bathroom, Lysol Bathroom, chlorine bleach, Easy-Off Mildew Stain Remover, X-14 Mildew Stain Remover or Liquid Spic & Span and the like.
- For only the most stubborn stains on your anti-skid floor, a paste should be made of a cleanser such as Comet, Spic-N-Span, etc., and spread out onto the floor. Allow the paste to sit for 5-10 minutes and then gently scrub with a soft-bristled brush. To prevent scratches, the brush should be no rougher than the texture of a toothbrush.
- For hard water stains, calcium deposits, lime scale or difficult soap after repeated attempts with the above suggestions, you may try Lime-Away or white vinegar for removal of calcium or lime deposits. For soap scum, general black grime or algae, household bleach may be used with moderate scrubbing. In both instances the unit should be rinsed carefully with cold water. Scrubbing is never recommended as it could damage the finish on your floor. Always rinse off all remaining paste.
- If you use a rubber or plastic anti-skid mat, make sure to remove it after every shower to avoid harming the surface finish.
